The Temporomandibular Joint

The TMJ is a joint that connects the skull to the jaw and has many muscular and ligament attachments.

You may be experiencing jaw tenderness, headaches, clicky  jaw or locked jaw. This is often associated with overuse of the muscles that are attached to the TMJ which happens when we clench or grind our teeth most usually at night.

  • Splint – We make a splint or mouthguard which is worn during the night or day to allows your jaw joint to heal (just like a fractured bone is plastered).
  • Botox is a muscle relaxant so is very effective in healing a strained joint.
