A tooth requires extraction when it has lost too much tooth structure to be restorable due to:
- Tooth decay
- Tooth fracture
- Multiple large fillings
Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom teeth come in all shapes and sizes. Because of this they are often impacted or partially erupted causing infections to develop between the gum and the tooth. A regular experience is pain and swelling which develops then subsides every few months.
Wisdom teeth are extracted for one of two reasons:
- The wisdom tooth is damaging neighbouring teeth or structure
- The wisdom tooth is causing pain or concern for the patient
