Veneers are a thin layer of porcelain that is placed over front teeth to improve the appearance of worn, crooked, or damaged teeth.
Veneers are made in a lab using advanced, white, translucent porcelain materials to shape the tooth to suit any smile.
They are a great way to very quickly get the smile you may have always wanted. The final product is designed to resemble the appearance of dental enamel for a completely natural look.
At Big Smiles, we usually take photos, select a matching white shade, and prepare the tooth very slightly so that a porcelain cover can sit over the tooth.
What are composite veneers?
Composite resin is another tooth-coloured resin that is less expensive than traditional porcelain veneers. Composite veneers are a popular option because of the cost-saving benefits over porcelain veneers.
The procedure for composite veneers is very similar to porcelain veneers. They can require less preparation and can also be easier to repair than porcelain veneers.
The downside is their resilience isn’t as high as porcelain. Consequently, composite veneers can break down more easily, and have a reduced life-span compared with the more resilient porcelain.
